HI, it’s me, Matilda!

BIO

I’m a Helsinki-based multidisciplinary artist and arts and culture professional with experience in teaching, design, craft, and museum customer service. I’m especially drawn to work that involves meaningful human interaction, inclusivity, creative problem-solving, and supporting others.

My artistic practice focuses on painting and material-based art, particularly textiles. I explore themes of nature, play, magic, alternative realities, and identity through a queer and autistic perspective. My work is characterized by bright colors, playful expression, storytelling, and a sense of childlike wonder. I’m interested in the contrast between seemingly cute and joyful aesthetics and the deeper, often personal themes beneath the surface.

Alongside my artistic practice, I have experience in project planning and management, funding applications, collaborations, workshops and curriculum development, social media and visual marketing, as well as organizing and hosting events and exhibitions. These experiences have strengthened my ability to work independently and collaboratively across diverse contexts.

My key strengths are creativity, sensitivity, empathy, attentive presence, and strong observational and analytical skills. I’m motivated by the potential of art and culture to enhance well-being, foster inclusivity, promote human rights and support the conservation of nature. Through my work, I hope to bring joy, color, imagination, and curiosity into people’s everyday lives.
